about

2020 has been a hard year, and song writing has helped me process through a lot of what has happened. This track came out of the necessity to live one day at a time. I posted a live version to social media and a friend of my from high school and collage, Steve Sullivan, liked the track. He asked me to send over a vocal and guitar track and let him arrange the rest. I loved the idea of working with him once again "across time and space" as he put it. I did some quick home recordings with the help of a friend of mine and sent them to Steve for arranging. He made the arrangement and really helped with the overall feel of the tune. Its a raw cut, one vocal take, kinda track, and I love it for that. Steve's simple, yet perfect, arrangement helps the song breathe and move forward, without distracting from the lyric and feel of the tune. I hope it's an encouragement to you. As always, thanks for listening.

lyrics

Verse 1
On a road that I don’t know
It’s hard to tell where its headed
Don’t even know in which direction
That ol’ highway just keeps strechin’
In a book that I can’t read
Like a never ending story
That’s always stuck inside those gory
Details of the plain and boring

Chorus
We’ll never know
Where it goes
We just hold tight
To those that we love
As long as God
Gives the right
To live one day at a time

Verse 2
Like I river I can’t bend
Just winding through the heavy forest
Tall rugged trees turning in August
The early birds singing their chorus
In a moment I can’t hold
The gentle smile of a baby
That subtle smell when its rainin’
The beauty in a common daisy

Chorus

Bridge
Cause time never stops
It just keeps moving on
We only got what we got
Why live in my head
I get what I get
Today I’m just hold on

Chorus

Just live one day at a time
We live one day at a time
